Backpack Program (schools and other groups)

If your organization would like to get involved in this truly rewarding experience, we will provide you all the materials to stuff a backpack and the backpack itself for $25 per unit. Since we buy in quantity we expect that this will be the most cost effective way to do this, although you are welcome to purchase the items yourself. Then you can have a "backpack party" where the participants will stuff the backpacks that will ultimately go to a homeless person. You can also include personal notes to bring yet another bit of happiness to the recipient. This is an ideal project for a school or scout troop or other organization to get our youth involved in working to achieve a meaningful goal – that of helping their fellow man. It can also work well for a neighborhood Holiday Party, or other activity associated with Holiday giving. Sponsor a Backpack

 

This year, instead of giving another tie, another sweater, a box of candy, or whatever, give a gift that truly conveys the spirit of the holidays. Give a homeless person a Giving Back Backpack, filled with thermal underwear, a hat, gloves, and a sweatshirt, and give that backpack in honor of your friend, relative or co-worker.

When you send $25 to Giving Back / Linda's Legacy, a local school child will stuff a backpack with these essential winter clothes and put a card with the name of the person you wish to honor inside. We will then prepare a beautiful Holiday Card designed by a local homeless person documenting this gift, with a special insert describing your gift, and send it to you to present as your holiday gift to them." Corporate Sponsorship

GBLL is very proud of the fact that local businesses are becoming more involved in supporting our efforts. During our collection days local restaurants have provided food to feed our volunteers, local business have provided us dumpsters, and port-a-pots, and local businesses have provided us boxes and other supplies for sorting and packing the donations. Last year several companies decided that instead of giving their key employees or key clients food baskets or flowers, they would sponsor a backpack for a homeless person in each of their names through our Sponsor a Backpack program. What a great idea!
